Chimneys, being the highest point of the roof endure all weather and this, over time causes the mortar between the brickwork to crack and crumble and if left can lead to the bricks becoming loose.  The worse scenario if they are neglected could cause the chimney to become unstable and may fall onto the roof causing damage or damage to anything or anyone at ground level.  A minor re-pointing repair will be far cheaper than leaving it until the situation becomes dire.

Re-bedding is required when the sand and cement mortar (bedding) no longer bonds to the ridge tile,
this is due to neglect to the ridge pointing. The bedding becomes dis-bonded and brittle with constant
weathering due to no protection from the outer pointing skin allowing the bedding to decay.This makes it
easier for the ridge tile to blow off in high winds causing more damage.

We provide a re-bedding service to replace the damaged mortar with new to stabilise the ridge tiles.

We also provide and install dry ridge systems which are much more durable, weatherproof and no maintenance required.

Walls, Chimneys, Brickwork.

Brick repointing is the process of renewing the pointing in masonry construction. Over time, weathering and decay cause voids in the joints between bricks, allowing the undesirable entrance of water. Water entering through voids can cause significant damage through frost weathering, salt dissolution and deposition.

Over time, where the masonry or mortar cracks and crumbles the bricks may become displaced and cause further problems.  Minor re-pointing at an early stage could save an expensive job if left.
